1926 Legionary
This figure shows the characteristic appearance of the legionary of the first campaigns during the summer. It is played with a quilted canvas chambergo hat, very comfortable in the campaign, so little by little it was adopted by all spanish forces placed in Africa. In 1926 it was declared a regular garment for the summer uniform even in the Peninsula. The white canvas boots, similar to those worn by the Regulares, were displacing the espadrilles and ended up imposing them. Interestingly, the shirt still does not wear shoulder pads, which were added in 1926. The tarpaulin belt is of English origin, of the "Mills" type purchased for the first campaigns in Gibraltar.
