Mambise Day Officer
All officers of the Cuban Liberation Army, from time to time, were designated as Officer of the Day for 24 hours.
The Chief of the Day, or Officer of the Day, received the guard at dawn, was responsible for the posts and the internal order of the Mambi camp until the next day. He made sure that the waste was buried, passed clean, remained silent after the touch of the horn, etc. He was also in charge of discipline during the marches. He was easily distinguished by wearing a red band embroidered in white, which read "Officer of the Day. " In combat, this band made him stand out above the troops, so they were targeted by Spanish troops.
