James Ewell Brown (JEB) Stuart
General of the Army of the Confederate States during the Civil War. His friends knew him by "Jeb"; Stuart was a cavalry commander known for his mastery in the recognition and use of cavalry in offensive operations. His southern bearing and his knightly image made him famous in the rebel zone. He died in May 1864 during the Overland campaign at the Battle of Yellow Tavern.
