Don Alfonso Zouave scort guard
The Carlist Zouaves was created by Mr. Alfonso Carlos in Spain. After their training by the Pontifical Zouave troops, in which the second battalion belonged in the sixth company. Alfonso Carlos attained the rank of lieutenant, the Carlist Zouaves demonstrating their fierceness in the battle.
In the Third Carlist War (1872-1876), he created in the Carlist Zouaves an honor guard that accompanied him and his wife Maria de las Nieves Braganza. It was a unit of shock troops within the army of Catalonia and the Maestrazgo. They were always envied by other battalions, being considered the honor guard.
