Requete Militia Cristoforo

"By God, for the Fatherland and the King, our fathers fought. By God, for the Fatherland and the King, we will fight as well". Carlist political sentiment remained deeply rooted in Spain in 1936, its militias were organized in the calls Tercios de Requetés. Formed mainly by humble farmers, they integrated more than 60 000 volunteers. They fought for the National side, with the aim of defending the Catholic religion and opposing Marxism. The majority of the Thirds of Requetes, possessed a cross that was carried in Campaign by a Sergeant, denominated "Cristoforo". His mission was to serve as a guide, preceding the requetés who accompanied him. Although it was less showy than the flag, its presence was more important and were many requetés that died looking for with the look the silhouette of the Christ.
